Views at folder level

Post by cradoede » Tue Jan 04, 2011 12:33 am

Hello,

We have alot of customers that use AutoStore/Kyocapture to scan docs with metadata into InfoRouter.

Two complaints that we hear are that each member has to setup the columns for custom properties for each folder that they scan into, and that there is no way to have sysadmin setup default views for all members.

This is what they would like to see.

1. Locking in the column views using custom properties at the library or folder levels through properties, and applying it to all the sub folders.

2. Using the sysadmin or library admins account to setup the default view for infoRouter and setting those views for all the other members as default.

Right Now the default columns are: Name. Size, date modified, Owner.
What is usually changed to: Name, Custom Property (Filename, date, etc.)

Hope this makes sense.

Hello,

You can set two types of folder views from the folder properties screen and these can be copied/applied below to sub-folders. So if you do this at the Library Folder level, you can get it to work with one shot.

If you wish to be restrictive in how the folder view is, choose the "Mandatory View" option so that the users cannot change the view type. If you wish to be less restrictive, use the "Default View" style so everyone sees the folder in the default view mode but they have the option to change the view style from the folder rules section.

All of the above however apply to the view style and does nothing related to columns. This is a feature that has been requested so we do have it on our list of things to do. It simply has not gained enough traction against some of the more "Hot Topics" but we hope to get it done sometime in 2011.

I hope this helps.

The Guru
