Best Efficient way to Backup InfoRouter

Post by IRuser » Thu Apr 15, 2010 12:17 pm

Hello Forums!

Can anyone suggest a better and efficient way to backup InfoRouter? Currently, we have to let our users know that we are going to take the server offline for a few hours, stop the IIS, and perform a manual backup on InfoRouter. This usually takes 3-4 hours.

Thank you.

Hello,

The best and the only way to backup infoRouter is to backup all three components (App directory, The document warehouse and the DB).
Ideally, this has to be done after the IIS has been stopped. This ensures that no one is making changes during the backup.

The time it takes to do the backup is mainly a function of the warehouse size. The other two components are usually very small.
All we can suggest is to schedule this backup for after hours.

Most of our customers have written a script that stops IIS, copies the warehouse and the application directory and kicks off a DB backup job.
You can then start IIS and perform a tape backup on the copies.

Another way to approach this is to have a mirrored disk for the warehouse.

I hope this helps.

The Guru.
