Adding MIME Types

Is there a more up to date version of instructions on how to add MIME Types? The one I was able to pull was not quite helpful in that it did not tell me exactly how to add the file type just where to add it. Basically need to add ".xlsm" for Office 2007 excel so users can read the files. Currently excel files that have been loaded into IR are opening up as zip files. I figured I had to modify the MIME to accept it but I'm having a hard time trying to figure that out.
