Folder rules and security.

Post by edward » Fri Aug 07, 2009 8:28 pm

How does folder rules work. I have access to documents in the folder and have "Change" permissions but I get an error message if I try to check out a document. Is this because of folder rules? How do I set or see the rules.

Folder rules override security. A folder rule can prevent document check outs.
Users with "Change" or even "Full Control" rights will not be able to check out a document if this rule is set.

Folder rules is a powerful mechanism to control the activity in folders.

Examples for Folder Rules:

Disallow Check Outs
Disallow New Documents
Disallow New Folders (will stop users from creating sub-folders)
